Overview

Recovery Solutions offers clients the ability to prepare for and recover to normal operations after a potential disaster using a third-party data center location and participation in recovery testing. The service will ensure that the recovery site location adheres to best practices and industry standards, in alignment with Penn’s Data Center on-campus installations

The scope of the service includes all ISC managed infrastructure, self-managed (recovery) clients, and participants of the VM Recovery Subscription

Not in scope for Disaster Recovery exercises are telephony, 2-step verification, printer support, fax and scanning, and other specialized software. Also not included are third party or software-as-a-service products. 

Recovery Solutions will assist new clients with the on-boarding process and will collaborate with them to address interdependencies and interactions between client systems and related services.

This fee includes:

- A planned recovery position in the queue during an actual Disaster Recovery Event. This priority would be AFTER ISC infrastructure is recovered but BEFORE all non-subscribed VMs.
- VM recovery as part of the annual Disaster Recovery Exercise.

Clients can participate in annual Disaster Recovery (DR) Exercise in preparation for an actual DR event in one of three ways:

  • Request that the service broker a contract with our off-site vendor so that your organization can run its own recovery plan as part of DR.
  • Request that a production server with mirrored storage that is part of the infrastructure for a campus-wide application developed and supported by ISC’s Application Development & Delivery service be subscribed to the VM Recovery option.
  • Request that a production virtual server with mirrored storage used via ISC’s Virtual Server Hosting service be subscribed to the VM Recovery option.
