Overview

The primary objective of this program is to enhance the security awareness and skills of University IT staff members by providing them with high-quality training at no cost. This initiative will not only improve the security posture of the University but also offer IT staff members an opportunity to advance their careers in information security.
 
The Information Security Professional Training Program is a comprehensive training program that consists of three consecutive classes held in the Fall, Winter, and Spring with class materials from CompTIA.  The live presentation of the material will be delivered by the staff of the Office of Information Security.
 

Benefits

You are invited to participate in this training, which is intended to:
  • Provide a training curriculum that will give University IT members in-depth security training that can be used immediately in their current positions.
  • Provide a training curriculum that will position the participants to successfully sit for three security certification exams
  • Provide skills that a participant can use to advance their careers into information security positions.

  • How it works 

    Participants will be supplied with live class lectures, training materials, practice lab environments, and certification exam vouchers, all at no cost. Classes will be held remotely on Zoom, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 3:00 pm-5:00 pm.  The program consists of three certification preparation classes that will be held consecutively for 10 weeks each (Fall, Winter, Spring). The three classes in this program are: CompTIA Security+, CompTIA PenTest+, and CompTIA CySA+.  For more information on each class, please visit https://www.comptia.org/en-us/certifications/

  •  How to join

    Staff members wishing to participate will need to secure their supervisor's permission to attend the remote live lectures during the hours of 3:00 pm-5:00 pm, two days per week.  Staff members need to contact Doug  Cawley at dcawley@isc.upenn.edu; the program has a limited number of seats.
